You Deserve The Very Best |
What Some People Learned So Late
While
nursing a career or even considering the idea of one, the possibility of never
coming through or experiencing the temptation of becoming this or that is no
option. You will by every chance run same notion and possibly stumble upon many
ideas while reading or making personal research to hit the highest point like
every successful person. Career planning has three steps that you will go through
and repeat throughout your working life. Don’t be scared about that! Read
though with the aim to get it right.
May I ask
you what almost everyone seems to leave behind before choosing one? Time is
like a commodity appropriated to everyone but so real and easy to miss like
smoke. What do you value anyway? Keep that so close to your sleeve; it’s a
question everyone has different answer for, you never dropped from the Mars-so,
welcome to the club. One way to start clarifying your value is to keep a clear
track record of the motives behind your daily activities. By the way, so many
people have no or few answers for that very line at hand. Your choice or
choices of career should revolve round what you really value. We’ll get back to
that shortly.
Your career decisions depend on certain steps
you will have to follow in order to reach your goals-if you have one? I know
you have one or possibly still debating on which one to adopt (just pulling
your leg perhaps). You'll know what your
options are and what it will take to reach your targets or goals.
Let’s take a realistic view of your strengths,
weaknesses, and lastly your interests.
Be very
real-you are not on the hot seat for millionaire contest. You just relax. We
cannot discuss your strength as a factor without mentioning your weaknesses and
lastly your interests. We talk mostly about our strengths and hide our
weaknesses. Some would take you to a fault on that: no one is perfect anyway!
Points to ponder or consider:
- What do you think about yourself? Perhaps I should make it a little easier this way: who do you think you really are? Don’t hit the roof yet. We are not repeating Tyson and Holyfield’s contest-at least not with gloves. Never mind the running pen. Smile!
- What interests you?
- What are the things you also think can help you achieve your goals?
- Ever thought of constant and possible obstacles that could get in your way?
- What types of work and school courses and activities you desire?
- Your experiences: what you do right; your skills and what you’ve seen and learn through?
- Your work ethics; values you have regarding work?
Weighing your possible options
It's hard
to know what you want to do especially when you fall victims to a “unique”
environment while growing up. The world is as vast as you can ever imagine and
full of different potentials as given by the supreme creator (the sovereign
Lord). You’re never a mistake; you’re designed to achieve greater things in
life. Information is a vital product you can’t afford to let go while
considering different possibilities: get career information like a starved
hunter’s devotion to gun and his hunt. Your environment or choice of location is
very vital. Determination is a rear commodity but it could be a valuable
concept when you have a clear objective. Here are a few ways to find career
information:
- The first institution you’ll ever find yourself is the family; talk to your parents-especially the educated parents. I’m aware that not everyone has that faculty, seek help when necessary-nobody deserves to be an island.
- Are you in school, see your local counselor and talk to experience people (who are willing to see you through every moment of confusion) within your reach.
- Spend time with people whose activities interest you. Remember some may be of interest but never beneficial.
- You could as well work or volunteer to offer certain services in areas that interest you. Hard work doesn’t kill (like my mentor always emphasized); only laziness kills. Exercise your little strength: “every good success starts with little efforts”.
- Never say “never” to necessary obligations when they call; every little learning process is a pool of investment: you never can tell when it comes demanding.
- Discuss it when necessary your challenges so as to avoid the same pool of fools. Matters discussed might be halfway solved.
Finally, put to scale certain issues that can affect
your plans/set goals.
Many are
lost in the wind of unrealistic assumptions when they set from the beginning to
fail; assuming no obstacles confronting their goals. That could be close to a
fool’s paradise. Challenges will come but your ability to stand tall in times
of adversity determines your maturity. In other words, your maturity is a
function of your determination to stand even in the face of adversity. Take
appropriate actions to accomplish your goals. Actions not consummated are
similar to momentary thoughts.
Let’s consider
these:
- What do you really want to study?
- What environment offers the training you need/admire or even desire? School or......?
- What is required?
- The bill? That’s a constant factor.
- How do you plan to foot the bill?
- What about the risks involved?
- Are you managing or working?
- How will you balance your work and going to school?
- What about the relationships in your life and certain issues you are relatively bond to?
We all
have certain pool of doubts and challenges. When will fail to learn; we plan to
fail. We learn every single moment of our lives. We’re a product of what we
value and spend our moments, time and resources on. Make every moment count as
if you have but one moment to live for. People who seek for the right advice at
the right time arrive with few scars. People
who fail to take the risks remain on same spot. Take a leap of faith today and
step on to your desired height. Pray your way through!
